Veterinarian

James Island Veterinary Hospital is a privately owned, progressive, and rapidly growing general/urgent care practice that is focused not only on excellent medicine, but also compassionate patient and client care.  We currently have a staff of 3 veterinarians, 10 technicians, 4 receptionists, 1 hospital manager (CVPM), and a medical director …and we are eager to add another DVM that shares our values and wants to practice quality medicine in a team atmosphere. New or recent graduates are welcome and can benefit from direct mentorship. Surgical and dentistry interest/skills are a bonus, but are not required. Our DVMs participate in monthly meetings to discuss best medicine/standards of practice and protocols to promote a collaborative atmosphere. We also host a local specialist quarterly to continue to grow our medical and surgical standards. Our 3900 sq foot building hosts 3 exam rooms, hospital wide renovation pending in early 2024 that will add more exam rooms, an expansive surgery suite, treatment area, dental suite with digital radiology, isolation room, in-house Idexx lab (to include Vetstat), and radiology/ultrasound suite.

We are looking to add a full-time veterinarian to cover expanded office hours from 10am-10pm. The schedule consists of three 12-hour workdays per week. Days of the week rotate on a monthly basis between Monday/Tuesday/Thursday or Wednesday/Friday/Saturday.  Schedules do not include holidays, on call, or Sundays, allowing for a healthy work-life balance for our employees.  While we want you to love what you do and where you do it, we also want you to enjoy your life outside of work! We are strong believers that a work-life balance makes us better doctors. Located minutes from highly desirable downtown Charleston, SC, we are also only 10 minutes from Folly Beach. Pay structure is a competitive base salary, starting at $125-135,000 depending on work history and experience, plus percentage (20%) of production over base production. Benefits include: annual CE stipend ($2,000), organization dues, licensure, PLIT, paid time off, matching Simple IRA (3%), and paid 75% of health insurance premium.
